Parents are usually the first to suspect that their child may have developmental challenges. Sometimes the problem is obvious, other times it is just a feeling. If you have questions about your child's development, discuss your concerns with your child's physician.

 


 

The following could be signs of concern

Poor head control after 3 months of age

Stiff or rigid arms or legs

Pushing away or arching the back

Floppy or limp body posture

Cannot sit up without support by 8 months

Uses only one side of the body, or only the arms, to crawl

Pushes up on arms

Holds head up

At 6 Months. . .

Reaches for objects &/or feet

Sits by self

Rolls (tummy to back & back to tummy)

Vocalizes 2 or more sounds

At 12 Months. . .

Stands alone momentarily

Says 1 to 2 words other than Mama, Dada

Picks up small objects w/ thumbs & fingers

At 18 Months. . .

Has a 4 to 6 word vocabulary

Builds a tower of 2 to 3 blocks

Walks alone
